Privacy Policy

Last updated 9 October 2026.

The African Chipkizi Cup (“we”, “us”) organizes a youth sports tournament in Arusha, Tanzania. Most of our players are children, so we take particular care with their information. This policy explains what we collect through africanchipkizicup.com, why, and the choices you have. We aim to follow Tanzania's Personal Data Protection Act, 2022 and internationally recognised good practice for protecting children's data.

What we collect

  • Team registration (submitted by a club or school): team and club name, country, logo, and the coach's name, email and phone number.
  • Players: full name, date of birth, jersey number, position and an optional photo, plus match events recorded during the tournament (for example goals or cards).
  • Contact form: your name, email, optional phone number and your message.
  • Your browser: if you follow a team, the list of teams you follow is stored only on your own device (browser local storage) so we can show you match notifications. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

How we use it

  • To run the tournament: approve registrations, make the draw, schedule and score matches.
  • To check age eligibility — a player's date of birth is used only for this.
  • To produce accreditation (ID) cards for players and officials.
  • To publish fixtures, results, standings and statistics.
  • To reply to messages you send us.

What is shown publicly

Team and club names, logos, the coach's name, and players' names, jersey numbers, positions, photos and match statistics appear on this website. Dates of birth, and coaches' email addresses and phone numbers, are never shown publicly — they are visible only to tournament organizers who are signed in.

Children and consent

Teams are registered by an adult coach or club official. When registering, they must confirm that the parents or guardians of every player have agreed to this policy, including the publication of their child's name, photo and match statistics. A parent or guardian can ask us at any time to remove a child's photo or details from the public site — see “Your rights” below.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with people who help run the tournament (organizers and match officials), and where the law requires it. Some pages embed content from third parties — YouTube videos and, where shown, a Google map — and those services may receive technical information such as your IP address when the content loads.

How long we keep it

We keep tournament records — teams, rosters, results and statistics — so that results and player histories remain available across editions. Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry. You can ask us to delete information at any time.

Security

The site is served over encrypted HTTPS. Organizer access requires a personal login, the server is protected by a firewall and key-only administrative access, and data is backed up regularly.

Your rights

You — or, for a child, their parent or guardian — can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold, or to withdraw consent for publication. Email market@africanchipkizicup.com or use our contact form, and we will respond as soon as we can.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
